CAREY JEFFERSON NEEDS YOUR HELP AND LETTERS ,PLEASE RESPOND AS SOON AS POSSIBLE IF NOT SOONER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

DEAR FACULTY, STAFF , PARENTS AND STUDENTS OF DR. MARTIN LUTHER KING JR
ACADEMIC MIDDLE SCHOOL

CAREY JEFFERSON who has been the security at our school site since
1994, needs your help and letters. RICHARD MAGGI , the new sfusd
director of operations in his finite wisdom has decided to
involuntarily transfer MR JEFFERSON , to denman middle school for no
reason other than his union activism these past two years as ubc
representative. this action is a violation of several union articles
regarding transfers as well as articles regarding arbitrary enforcement
o our contract and blatant discrimination.

Carey Jefferson has more seniority than the two other new security
guards at our site , who each have worked less than a year as sfusd
security guards. thus he should never have been even considered for
such a transfer. his evaluations are excllent and his performance
continues to be exemplary . especially when dealing with all students
at our site and defusing violent altercations in the hallways,
classrooms, gym, and/or grounds. he has been and is a role model for
african americans at our site whether during his working hours or after
school. they know they can go to him if they need help. these past few
years with the loss of our computer tech , mr jefferson has filled in
to assist members with computer tech needs and concerns. mr jefferson
has acted or several years as basketball coach and our ubc classified
representative , who due to his mobility is able to communicate members
needs and concerns to me and other ubc reps as well as distribute
materials to keep members informed,or bear witness to contract
violations being committed against our members.mr jeffferson has always
been here when needed and has provided support to all students or staff
in need. we cannot lose him to this unfortunate and misguided decision
due to whispers of his responsibility in helping with our needed
administrative change this school year.

our site has lost another 7 faculty members this year. the number of
our african american staff has been further to reduced to two, at the
school named in honor of dr. king this is most discouraging and even
criminal if done for the discriminatory reasons alleged.

please help by writing positive letters or emails of support for mr
jefferson to be retained at our school site, to one or more of the
persons in sfusd administration or school board listed below. i want to
thank those who helped us with letters to bring about a management
change at our site, but now whether you still work hre or not we need
your help to keep mr. jeferson with us , for all the good he has done
and will continue to do. with your help we will once more be
successful.
