UBC/ADM Facillitator: Judy Gerber
Attending: Okubo, Minjares, Gerber, McCachren, Schutnecht, A. Brown.
1. Agreed to table master schedule discussion as we will have next
principal coming in much sooner than anyone thought to make transition.
School board approval will be Thurs.
2. Admin wanted to know about kid aspect of master schedule. I said
it'd be another couple of weeks before grade levels have those lists.
okay with admin.
3. Mr. S's issue with 8th grade no-participate list: Admin says Green
has written a letter defining expectations, etc. for who and what
constitutes denial. We countered that there should be divide between
walking stage and going on field trips/dance. Admin agreed that
language should be included in letter to parents about final
activities informing them that some students may be required to bring
parent on field trip. Also, admin. said there will be appeals, as it is
district policy to allow that.
4. Timelines, etc. re evaluations: Okubo said PD form was part of the
packet she provided to us at the beginning of the school year as part
of her expectations. Had checked with Jo Lee Weinroth about it. She
said it all goes in the plus column--anything anyone puts down. Re para
evaluation form, she said she just used the district form she has to
fill out. I said I didn't have a copy of the para contract, so could
not verify that it was the right form to use. Said I will need to check
para contract.
5. Re evaluation meetings, she said Satisfactory or above can happen by
May 8th, which agrees with contract timeline. Below satisfactory is May
1, which she also did. I pointed out that contract reads that meeting
regarding final evaluation is not required unless the teacher requests
it. Okubo said she wants to meet. I said for the record, teacher is not
required to do so.
6. Reasserted 24-hour notice requirement for parents in classroom or
meeting with teacher.
7. Told Okubo we want to meet with architects. Okubo says timeline is
very slow. No construction this summer; will be worked out with new
principal for construction to start next summer. I said we wanted the
contact info for contractors anyway so we can talk to them and let them
know we have to work with them re construction since it impacts working
conditions.
8. Minjares asked us for testing feedback: We reiterated need to let
kids go home after tests or have special events in afternoon.
