DEAR UESF LOCAL 61 MEMBERSPLEASE ATTEND THE SSC EMERGENCY SITE PLAN MEETING...MARCH 11,2008 AT 4PM IN THE LIBRARY...YOUR PRESENCE AND HELP IS NEEDED ON OUR SITE PLAN...BELOW IS A MESSAGE FROM SOMEONE WHO ATTENDED YESTERDAY'S SSC MEETING

> March 12, 2007
>
> To Concerned Staff and Faculty who put their hearts
> into their work @ Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Academic
> Middle School,
>
> Many of you went to the march yesterday and
> represented those of us who remained for the School
> Site Council meeting after school. Thank you for
> bringing our shared concerns and messages to
> California's governor and legislative bodies as we
> attended a rough SSC meeting! The sole discussion, if
> you will call it that, was about the Site Plan
> "revisions" initially made by a group of teachers,
> parents, students and administrators who worked long
> hours on it in recent weeks. You did not receive this
> copy in your box yesterday. You received a pink one
> with Mr. Cho's signature cover letter.
>
> In the meeting he called it "Mr. Cho's Site
> Plan." He made changes without meeting with those who
> were working on it previously. He tried to keep his
> cool but slid into threatening stances and as one
> observer noted, "Mr. Cho was verbally violent at the
> meeting tonight. That is an embarrassment to the
> school." The observer's sentiment reflects how many of
> us feel:"My heart goes out to all of my colleagues,
> including the veterans who have had to deal with
> things."
>
> In light of our staff's ability to unite and work
> together, I hope you will attend an Emergency Site
> Plan meeting this Thursday @ 4:00 in our library. The
> timeline for the second draft is due this Friday @
> district headquarters.
>
> Sincerely,
> A current teacher @ Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
