E. DISCUSSION AND AGREEMENT THAT A COMPREHENSIVE RECORD KEEPING AS
DISCUSSED BY MR HARPER AT SSC SEPTEMBER MEETING NEEDS TO BE PUT INTO
PLACE. IT WAS AGREED WHAT IS NEEDED AT THE SITE IS A comprehensive
daily/weekly/monthly discipline program from mr harper as described at
september meeting. WHICH PROVIDES a break down of tardies, absences,
cuts, referrals, suspension and expulsions by class period each
day/week/month and grading period. THIS RECORD KEEPING WOULD HELP POINT
OUT RECIDIVIST INFRACTIONS AND VIOLATIONS TO DEAL WITH MORE
APPROPRIATELY.
F. MEMBERS DISCUSSED CONCERNS ABOUT THE FOLLOWING:
1. STUDENTS BEING LET IN BEFORE SCHOOL STARTING TIME AND BEFORE
STARTING TIME OF FIFTH PERIOD
2. LACK OF CONSEQUENCES WITH NO IN HOUSE SUSPENSION OR AFTER SCHOOL
DETENTION OR SATURDAY SCHOOL CREATING DISCIPLINE PROBLEMS
3. MS SPEERS, MR KAPLAN, AND MR HARPER HAVE PEER RESOURCE CLASSS DURING
3RD PERIOD/
4. EVERY INCIDENT MUST BE DOCUMENTED BY FACULTY
5. EVERY TEACHER MUST PROVIDE STUDENTS WITH A PASS AND COUNSELORS WILL
RESPOND INKIND
6. MAKE SURE REFERRALS SENT WITH CLEAR DESCRIPTION OF EACH INCIDENT
7. MAKE SURE TEACHER SUSPENSION FORM FILLED OUT AND SENT AND PHONE TO
PARENT MADE AS SOON AS POSSIBLE

CUTS_
· TEN MINUTES AFTER SECOND BELL, STUDENT IF NOT ABSENT IS RECORDED AS
A CUT.
· STUDENTS WHO WALK OUT OF ROOM WITHOUT PERMISSION SHOULD BE RECORDED
AS A CUT
· FILL OUT CUT SLIP SEND TO OFFICE
· COUNSELORS WILL INFORM PARENTS OF CUTS
· unanimous faculty/staff and ubc site discipline and behavior plan
agreements:
a. after ten minutes a student is recorded as cut if present in school
b. 2 tardies equals a warning
c. 4 tardies equals a ÒuÓ
d. there needs to be an in house suspension room staffed by security
guard(s), peer resource or other staffÉ. Throughout school day as a
staffed afterschool detention room.
e. Security guards should be patrolling hallways not collecting and
delivering attendance slips.
· If student walks out of classroom without teacher permission , a cut
slip must be filled out by teacher and sent to attendance office to
protect teachers if an incidence occurs during this time not in
classroom without permission

TARDIES_
· STUDENTS ABSENT FIRST TEN MINUTES OF CLASS SHOULD BE MARKED AS TARDY
BY TEACHER IN ATTENDANCE BOOK.
· STUDENTS TARDY AFTER FIRST FIVE MINUTES OF CLASS SHOULD BE SENT TO
ATTENDANCE OFFICE FOR TARDY SLIP
· AFTER TWO TARDIES TEACHERS INFORM PARENTS STUDENTS IN JEOPARDY OF
RECEIVING A ÒUÓ FOR BEING TARDY
· AFTER FOUR TARDIES STUDENT RECEIVES A ÒUÓ FOR THAT GRADING PERIOD
f. 2 tardies equals a warning
g. 4 tardies equals a ÒuÓ
h. Tardies: after 5 minutes AFTER SECOND BELL RINGS student(s) sent to
attendance room for tardy recording and pass back into classroom.

LUNCH TIME TUTORIAL_
· STUDENTS NEED PASS TO ENTER BUILDING
· STUDENTS MUST REMAIN IN ROOM OR GO OUTSIDE
· TEACHERS NEED TO PICK UP STUDENTS AT FRONT DOOR.
§ Lunch time tutorials:
· students provided with written passes from teachers/staff
· teacher meets students at front door or entry refused , unless
student has written pass.
· violators give referrals and/or detention/suspension as defiance of
rule.
· students need written pass to restroom during lunch time.
o shared supervision of students to insure violations limited during
lunch time
o student violators lose lunchtime privileges, given lunchtime cleanup,
afterschool/Saturday school detention.
Uniform policy
OUT OF UNIFORM_
· PARENT CALLED TO EXPLAIN AND/OR BRING UNIFORM FOR STUDENT
· STUDENT MARKED ON UNIFORM LOG AND GIVEN LUNCH TIME DETENTION
i. uniform:
1. students shall be required to wear uniform white shirt/blouse and
black pants/skirt.
2. no non-uniform jackets/sweaters allowed in classroom other than
school uniform sweater, red pullover sweater, and/or 8th grade hoody.
a. if students entering room with non-uniform sweater:
1. students asked to remove garment.
2. if they refuse given referral as defiance and sent to attendance
office.
3. teachers record on uniform log return to office
4. violators must be given
a. lunchtime cleanup
b. in house suspension
c. parent phone call by attendance office
d. defiance referral
· all students out of uniform sent to attendance office:
· parent/guardian requested and/or required to bring student uniform or
provide verbal/written excuse with ÒuÓ recorded for infraction.
· Students who continually violate this policy given referral,
lunchtime cleanup, after school and/or Saturday school detention.
Preventative measures:
1. students provided with uniform garment needed to comply if available.
2. students who adhere to policy given free dress passes weekly
3. free dress incentives should not punish students who follow uniform
policy.
4. reduce percentage required for homerooms which adhere to uniform
policy and punish those who repretively violate uniform policy.


Buddy room
· It was agreed that in most circumstances buddy rooms should be in
close proximity to each other to prevent hallway disruptions.
· There should be flexibility in cases where special Ed and general Ed
teacher have an agreement or in case of absence of teachers. No student
should be sent to a buddy room when teacher is absent.
· Security guards must constantly patrol classroom areas through out
school day and look in on teachersÕ classes occasionally to show a
presence.
· The administration must provide a detention room and staff it with
peer resource person, security guards, student advisors only using
counselors as a last resort. Location of buddy room must be within
building as in room 101 if possible.
· The library is not a buddy room, nor place to send disruptive
students without librarianÕs permission.

· STUDENTS MUST HAVE WRITTEN REFERRAL FROM TEACHER
· STUDENTS SHOULD BE REQUIRED TO WRITE INCIDENT REPORTS AND OR
REFLECTIONS OF WHAT THEY DID TO LEAD TO THEIR REFERRAL
· AFTERSCHOOL DETENTION SUPERVISED BY AVAILABLE ONSITE AND AFTERSCHOOL
STAFF
· REQUIRING REFERRED STUDENTS TO COMPLETE SECOND STEP LESSONS
SUPERVISED BY PEER RESOURCE AND OTHER STAFF PERSONNEL
· RESTRUCTURE COUNSEELING OFFICE AND PLACE STUDENTS NEEDING ASSISTANCE
IN COUNSELLING OFFICE
· REFERRED STUDENTS SHOULD BE PLACED IN ROOM 101 TO COMPLETE INCIDENT
REPORTS, WRITTEN REFLECTIONS AND/OR SECOND STEP LESSON WORKSHEETS TO
PROMOTE DEVELOPMENT OF APPROPRIATE BEHAVIORS.

CURRENT SCHOOL POLICY***
SAFELY WALKING FROM PE AND LUNCH AND IN THE HALLWAYS
Decorum means that we calmly and maturely walk and talk in our halls to
ensure safe transitions from place to place.
1. Warning.
2. Require that the student go back and return safely.
· Ignoring a request to change behavior is DEFIANCE
· If repeated incidences have occurred, a Referral should be sent to
the counseling Office.
3. PREVENTATIVE MEASURES:
· Teachers model talking calmly andquietly.
· Teachers with one foot inside and one foot outside of classroom
during passing periods.
· An adult needs to be present at the intersection in front of the
library at all passing periods.

CURRENT POLICY-
Electronic devices (cassette/cd players, radios, headphones,beepers,
etc.) are not to be brought to school.

4 - Confiscate, send to Counseling Office, return to parent in June.
PREVENTATIVE MEASURES
· Allow them to listen to their music (through teacher/school
equipment); lyrics must be appropriate to school language standards.
